A large 20 inch early 20th century Steiff blonde mohair Bear sold at British Toy Auctions recently for an amazing figure of just over £2000. The disc jointed Bear with shoe button eyes, and nickel ear button with the ‘long trailing F’ dates the item to between 1906 and the mid 1930s. The bear displayed other classic features including long arms which hung down to knee length, a pronounced hump to the back, and non-functioning growler. In spite of the fact that there was evidence of some damage and minor restoration, bidding was brisk with the lot being sold to a Cheshire (UK) collector.
