A rare Meccano Constructor Car (model # 2) was sold at auction earlier this week by British Toy Auctions for £715 (including Buyer’s Premium). The lot was part of a collection of early Meccano and other vintage models consigned recently by a client from Yorkshire. Specialist cataloguer Barry Allen stated that, “although these models come up at auction occasionally, they are rarely found in such a good condition. The headlamps, windscreen and driver figure are often damaged or missing, whereas this model was fully complete with very good original paintwork”.

The lot was part of a collection of early Meccano and other vintage tin-plate models consigned recently by a client from Yorkshire, and included a rare Arnold Mac 700 clockwork tinplate Motorcycle made in the US Zone Germany measuring 20 cm long. The working mechanism enabled the rider to jump off the motorcycle and then re-mount, as well as enabling a simple forward motion. This particular lot sold for £250 (including Buyer’s Premium).
